As members of the Body of Christ, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist bring the body of Christ to those who are housebound or infirmed members of Christ’s Body. Their presence through ministering the Eucharist to their sisters and brothers is a reminder that the parish and the whole Church is in compassionate communion with the infirmed. They are not alone. As they minister, their action echoes the promise of the Risen Jesus, “where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them” (Mt. 18:20).
